Alaska Homeschool Support Groups

Homeschool support groups in your state are an excellent way to gain more assistance and guidance in your homeschooling endeavors. A regional support group fosters a wonderful sense of community among homeschooling families and allows for more opportunities to exchange ideas, plan group outings, and share in the overall experience of homeschooling! While Calvert supports the development of community among homeschooling families, this listing does not constitute affiliation between Calvert Education and the groups represented below.

ALASKA PRIVATE AND HOME EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION

The Alaska Private and Home Educators Association is a membership-based coalition of parents and others who have banded together for the furtherance of educational excellence through alternatives to the government-operated public schools.

NORTH STAR INDEPENDENT HOMESCHOOLERS

North Star Independent Homeschoolers consists of families of homeschoolers in Interior Alaska’s North Star Borough who homeschool their children without taking any government monies or oversight to do so. This is a great, legal option for all homeschooling families in Alaska!

As independent homeschoolers, we—dads and moms—assume complete responsibility for educating our children. This is unlike Alaska’s charter school programs (IDEA, Raven, etc.), in which this responsibility is shared among taxpayers, the charter system, its employees, and the parents.
