Calvert Student Spotlight – Spelling Bee Winner
somnipathy som·nip·a·thy (sŏm-nĭp’ə-thē) n. A disorder of sleep.
Nikhil C. Jammalamadaka, an 11 year old Grade 7 Calvert student, won the local Senior Bee championship of the 2015 Scripps Spelling Bee held in Atlanta, GA. The Bee was hosted by the Dunwoody Homeschool Hive, an Atlanta based homeschool group. The contest lasted 16 rounds, with the last few rounds going beyond the grade word lists published by Scripps. The championship word was “somnipathy.” Nikhil will now compete at the district level in February.
