Ground Beef Homeschooling

As I was shopping the other day, I noticed the price difference between 70/30 ground beef and 90/10.  I always buy the 90/10, so I never really took the time to compare them.  It got me thinking about those marketing surveys that we all get that ask if you’re willing to pay a little extra for a premium product.  My answer is almost always yes.  Sure, there are some exceptions.  I don’t necessarily buy a name brand because I think it’s better.  The most popular brand or style isn’t always what is best for my family, but I will absolutely pay more for better quality.

I don’t want to buy 70/30 ground beef because I’m just going to cook it and throw that 30% fat in the trash. I’d rather buy the 90/10 – I feel like I’m getting more for my dollar. That’s kind of the way I feel about our homeschool curriculum.  I will pay for quality.

I feel like with Calvert, I’m getting more protein and less fat than I would with some of the more mainstream or popular curriculum.  Calvert is absolutely worth the price for our family because we aren’t getting a product that we’re going to throw a percentage of into the trash.  Actually, I feel more like we’re getting prime rib for the price of ground beef.
