Homeschooling Is a Chore

While many of us would enjoy reading books with the children and working on fun science experiments for the majority of the day, if you’re like most homeschooling families, the household tasks still need to be done.  The dishes need to be washed, the laundry needs to be folded, and there’s always a never-ending mountain of laundry. And who is going to make dinner?

Here’s the answer –  incorporate chores into your homeschool routine!  Doing so will not only relieve stress on you, the parent, but will teach your child many of the life skills they will need to become a successful community member and to some day serve their own family.

“Chores are an essential part of raising a child who has sufficient skills to make their way in the world, and when everyone works together, it provides everyone with more free time. ” – Gretchen Roe, Calvert Community Liaison.

Our friends at Gone Like Rainbows also have a number of great printables for household organization to help keep you and your child on track.

Regardless of how you choose to delegate your household responsibilities, it’s easier on everyone when the entire family pitches in.  The added bonus of teaching social responsibility makes it worth the effort!
