Homeschool support groups in your state are an excellent way to gain more assistance and guidance in your homeschooling endeavors. A regional support group fosters a wonderful sense of community among homeschooling families and allows for more opportunities to exchange ideas, plan group outings, and share in the overall experience of homeschooling! While Calvert supports the development of community among homeschooling families, this list does not constitute affiliation between Calvert Education and the groups represented below.
Established in 1989, Christian-based Mission Valley Home Educators provides homeschool support for the Mission Valley. It features such activities as potluck dinners, spelling bees, and field trips. Those new to homeschooling, “veterans,” and anyone simply interested in educating their own children are all welcome. Come—be encouraged, share ideas, ask questions, and enjoy fellowship! There are no membership fees.
The Montana Coalition of Home Educators came together in 1988 as a cooperative effort of many individuals, organizations, and support groups in the state. The goal was to bring homeschoolers together to protect Montana’s homeschool freedom while maintaining the independence and autonomy of the individual families and the existing local and state organizations. To accomplish this goal, a loose network of these groups, individuals, and organizations was formed. An executive committee was selected to serve as a central clearinghouse for information, to set up and maintain a communication network, to watch for political and legal threats to Montana’s freedom, and to inform homeschoolers and suggest possible actions to meet those threats.
This organization is here to answer any questions you might have about homeschooling in the greater Billings area or in Montana in general. Please see our website for information on activities and field trips.
