Success Stories

Take a look at Calvert and you’ll find an impressive list of families and alumni. Over the course of our history, we have had the privilege of educating hundreds of thousands of students who have grown up to be incredible adults. Among so many others, President Barack Obama, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Pulitzer prize winning novelist Pearl S. Buck, and political commentator William F. Buckley, Jr. were at one time or another all Calvert students.

“I was anxious and worried when I started homeschooling my son. I spent more time stressing than I did teaching! Then I found Calvert. The curriculum is all planned for me with easy to follow, clear directions and I don’t have to constantly run out and grab library books or other supplies – everything is included! Calvert helped me become a confident homeschooling mom!”

“The Verticy program has changed my child’s life. He now has confidence in himself, and a love for learning new things. THANK YOU VERTICY!! You have saved a child’s mind and given him the ability to grow.”

— Alison S., Calvert Mom

“Calvert’s grammar, composition, and spelling courses are the best! I love that they still include sentence diagramming – something you don’t see in public schools. These classes ensure that students have proper spelling, sentence structure, and grammar – all essential for college.”

— Cassie D., Calvert Mom

“The Pre-K program was a true blessing for us. My twins enjoyed every moment of the course. I was delighted to see how much fun they had without realizing they were learning!”

— Missy Sue, Calvert Mom

“I was thrilled when we received the results of our Placement Tests. Not only did our counselor provide course recommendations, she spent a lot of time answering my questions and offering suggestions to help us transition to homeschooling. I couldn’t be more pleased.”

— Kristene H., Calvert Mom

“The Discoveries in Music enrichment is a must-have for any young child.  We had so much fun learning about about music.  The included instruments (harp, triangle, and flutophone) were a little difficult on my ears at first, but my son began playing tunes in no time.  Highly recommended!”

“The primary reason we homeschool our daughter is due to her Type 1 Diabetes.  Our days are filled with glucose monitoring, insulin shots, doctor’s appointments, and other medical care.  Calvert makes it possible for us to keep our daughter on grade level, even when she has to be hospitalized frequently.”

“I am a 1962 8th grade “graduate” of Calvert. My Father worked in Liberia, West Africa, and we lived in the jungle with no local accredited schools within over 50 miles. Shortly after my course arrived in early November of 1961, my Mother realized that I could easily “teach” myself daily and complete the course – which I did in approximately 7 months – all 180 lessons by May 1962.

My instructor was Mr. Warren Culbertson. I still have the returned graded exams and read them every few years – such great memories, all in his words – and in blue ink. Thanks to Calvert, I can truly say that I taught myself the eighth grade and went back to the states for 9th grade and high school. Thank you for an education in so many more ways than just book learning.”
